Kuwait Defense Minister Engages in Strategic Talks at Singapore Conference

Kuwait City: Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah has participated in the 22nd edition of the Shangri-La Dialogue, hosted in Singapore. The event commenced on Friday and is set to continue over a span of three days.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense released a statement on Saturday indicating that the first day of the conference featured a series of meetings among attending heads of state and government leaders. During this time, Minister Sheikh Abdullah met with Singaporean Minister of Environment and Sustainability Zaqy Mohamad. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Kuwait and Singapore, particularly in the military and security sectors, and involved dialogue on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Sheikh Abdullah took the opportunity to congratulate the Singaporean minister on the 60th anniversary of Singapore's independence, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the historical bilateral relations, especially in defense and security areas.

On the sidelines of the conference, Sheikh Abdullah engaged with several heads of state, senior officials, and counterparts from various countries. He held talks and exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including strategic challenges on both regional and international fronts. His discussions included meetings with the French president, the President of East Timor, the Singaporean prime minister, the US Secretary of Defense, and the Singaporean minister of digital development.

The agenda of the conference, which brought together senior officials from 47 countries, aimed to address global challenges such as maintaining balance in a competitive world, managing nuclear proliferation risks, cybersecurity, defense innovation, maritime security, and handling regional crises.

The meetings attended by Sheikh Abdullah were also participated by the State of Kuwait Ambassador to Singapore, Ahmad Al-Shraim, along with other officials accompanying him on his visit to Singapore.
