Tokyo: The recently concluded visit to Japan by His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, marked a pivotal moment in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries, as stated by Kuwait Ambassador to Japan, Sami Al-Zamanan.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during his stay from May 28 to 31, His Highness the Crown Prince engaged in discussions with Japan's Emperor Naruhito, Crown Prince Akishino, and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. These meetings demonstrated the mutual respect and strong ties between Kuwait and Japan. Ambassador Al-Zamanan noted that the talks with Prime Minister Ishiba resulted in an agreement to elevate the bilateral relationship to a "comprehensive strategic partnership." Additionally, several agreements were signed to enhance cooperation in essential areas, benefiting both nations.
During his visit, His Highness the Crown Prince also attended Expo 2025 Osaka, where he toured the pavilion of the host country, Japan, as well as those of the Gulf Cooperation Council members, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait. He commended the organization of the Kuwait pavilion, highlighting it as a reflection of Kuwait's significant status on both regional and international platforms.
