Geneva: The State of Kuwait has issued a strong condemnation of Israeli policies in the West Bank, particularly focusing on the issues of settlement expansion, land confiscation, and the reclassification of Palestinian territories as "state property." This declaration was made by Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, during the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council. He spoke during an interactive dialogue concerning the High Commissioner's report on the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti diplomat labeled the Israeli occupation's actions as null and void. He emphasized that these actions represent a type of illegal annexation and a breach of international conventions and pertinent Security Council resolutions. Ambassador Al-Hain underscored the necessity of enforcing rulings by the International Court of Justice and demanded full accountability to address impunity.
In his address, Ambassador Al-Hain reaffirmed Kuwait's unwavering support for the Palestinian people. He advocated for their right to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in alignment with the two-state solution and relevant UN resolutions.
