Kuwait Celebrates Two Years of Progress Under His Highness Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

Kuwait city: The State of Kuwait celebrates the second anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's ascension to leadership, marking a period of rapid progress and national achievements.

According to Kuwait News Agency, last year witnessed unprecedented developments under the directives of His Highness the Amir, focusing on the rule of law and justice. The fight against corruption and the protection of Kuwaiti citizens' welfare have been central to these efforts.

His Highness Sheikh Meshal became Kuwait's 17th ruler in 2023, following the cabinet's announcement of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad. His ascension was in accordance with the Constitution and Article Four of the law concerning Succession. On December 20, he took the constitutional oath at a special National Assembly session.

Before becoming Amir, Sheikh Meshal held high-ranking security and military positions over a six-decade career. His journey in public service began after his education at Al-Mubarakiya School and Hendon Police College in the UK, leading to vital roles within the Ministry of Interior and National Guard.

Nationally, His Highness the Amir has prioritized anti-corruption efforts and the reinforcement of legal systems. Kuwait saw legislative activities aimed at updating judicial and administrative systems, specifically targeting traffic and anti-narcotics laws.

On the defense front, Kuwait launched a comprehensive strategy to enhance its military capabilities. The Interior Ministry strengthened its Coast Guard, and the Kuwait National Guard developed its technological infrastructure.

In the oil sector, the Kuwait Oil Company announced new petroleum and natural gas discoveries, while the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation launched initiatives to honor contributions to the oil sector's development. Economically, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Kuwait Investment Authority made strides in digital infrastructure and smart licensing.

Significant advancements were also made in health, education, and media sectors, with innovations in surgeries, space research, cloud technology, and the creation of a digital photographic archive. Kuwait was honored as the 2025 Capital of Arab Media and Culture.

Efforts continue on major development projects, including the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port and the new airport project, with ongoing road maintenance. Internationally, His Highness the Amir engaged in diplomatic visits to the UK, Saudi Arabia, France, and Oman, strengthening Kuwait's ties with global leaders.

His Highness the Amir also hosted leaders from Uzbekistan, Egypt, Lebanon, the UAE, and Turkey, reinforcing Kuwait's international relations and cooperation across various domains.
