Kuwait Cabinet Calls for Initial Plans of Sabah Al-Ahmad and Mutlaa Medical Cities

Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Cabinet has urged the Ministry of Health, along with other government bodies, to develop initial blueprints for the Sabah Al-Ahmad and Mutlaa Medical Cities. This initiative is aimed at aligning with global standards to deliver top-notch healthcare services.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the announcement was made during the weekly Cabinet meeting held at Bayan Palace, presided over by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The meeting featured a visual presentation by Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi on the projects for the two medical cities, as explained by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya.

Sabah Al-Ahmad Medical City is intended to serve residents in areas such as Sabah Al-Ahmad, Wafra, and Khairan, whereas Mutlaa Medical City will cover regions including Sabriya and Nawaf Al-Ahmad. Both cities are planned to feature facilities such as two hospitals with 500 beds each, dental clinics, housing for medical staff, outpatient clinics, centers for physical therapy and medical rehabilitation, medical warehouses, dialysis units, and blood transfusion services.

The minister emphasized a commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the healthcare system, improving service quality, and developing comprehensive care. These projects are part of Kuwait's Vision 2035, which seeks to ensure equitable and accessible healthcare services across all governorates.

Additionally, His Highness the Prime Minister shared outcomes from meetings with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah with David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs. The discussions underscored Kuwait's intent to expand investment horizons, enhance entrepreneurship competitiveness, and form strategic global partnerships for expertise and technology transfer.

The Prime Minister also briefed the Cabinet on his recent meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, where they discussed enhancing collaboration, addressing economic imbalances, achieving fiscal reforms, managing financial policies, and diversifying income sources.

Minister Al-Yahya informed the Cabinet about the 29th GCC-EU joint ministerial meeting hosted by Kuwait, highlighting the meeting's final statement, which reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to Kuwait's sovereignty and respect for international agreements, particularly under UN Security Council resolutions.

Further, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority, Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, presented a comprehensive report on promoting entrepreneurship and competitiveness in Kuwait.

The Cabinet also touched on international and Arab political affairs, congratulating Egypt's President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi on the 52nd anniversary of the October Victory. The Cabinet recalled the heroism of Egypt's Armed Forces and the martyrs who sacrificed for their homeland, highlighting the strong relations between Kuwait and Egypt during the battle.

In conclusion, the Cabinet approved the minutes of the Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation, which included the loss and withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from certain individuals under Law No. 15 of 1959.
