Kuwait Cabinet Assesses Medical and Food Stock Amid Regional Tensions

Kuwait City: In light of escalating regional tensions, the Kuwaiti Cabinet convened on Tuesday to evaluate the measures taken by various ministries and state bodies to ensure sufficient medical and food supplies. The meeting took place at Bayan Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Cabinet received a briefing from Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi regarding the readiness of hospitals and health centers to access necessary drugs and medical supplies. Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel reported on food security stock, focusing on strategic commodities and market monitoring to guarantee the availability of food and water.

The Cabinet also extended greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti people on the occasion of the Islamic New Year, wishing prosperity for Kuwait and the broader Arab and Muslim worlds.

Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed a presentation by Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan on the new terminal project (T2) at Kuwait International Airport. The terminal has achieved a gold rating for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, assessed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Northern Economic Zone and Islands Project, primarily involving Boubyan Island and Failaka Island, was also discussed. Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari highlighted the project's potential to boost non-oil revenues and enhance economic activities in the industrial, commercial, and tourism sectors.

Furthermore, discussions included the development of a new entertainment city aimed at serving as a community service and tourist destination to stimulate the national economy. This initiative was presented by Director-General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and other key officials.

Lastly, the Cabinet approved a draft decree-law focusing on combatting money laundering and terrorist financing, aligning with Kuwait's commitment to United Nations Security Council resolutions.
