Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Cabinet has approved a draft decree-law revising Law 1/1993, aimed at protecting public funds, marking it as a national priority and duty for the government. This legislation seeks to address shortcomings identified in the previous law by updating legal frameworks and expanding the scope of criminalization and protection of public funds.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the approval came during the Cabinet's weekly meeting at Bayan Palace, chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah. The Cabinet also endorsed a draft decree-law amending Law 38/1980 to accelerate litigation processes and adapt to digital transformation.
During the session, Minister of Oil Tareq Al-Roumi informed ministers about the Kuwait Oil Company's new artificial intelligence innovation center, part of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation's digital strategy in the energy sector. Additionally, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari discussed the Al-Sabriya City project, which includes 55,000 housing units, positioning it as a major development in northern Kuwait.
Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and Finance Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem updated the Cabinet on the Public Authority for Partnership Projects (PAPP)'s progress on the Al-Zour North Power Plant Project, in partnership with ACWA Power and Gulf Investment Corporation.
The Cabinet also announced the suspension of work across all ministries and public bodies on September 4, 2025, in observance of the Prophet's Birthday. Lastly, the ministers reviewed various agenda items, referring some to ministerial committees for further consideration and reporting.
