Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Cabinet endorsed a bill to punish individuals operating unlicensed money exchange businesses, including buying, selling, exchanging, or transferring local or foreign currency without a proper license. Chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace, the Cabinet stated that violators could face imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months and a fine not exceeding KD 3,000, or either of these penalties, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Maousherji announced following the meeting.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the punishment may also include the closure of unlicensed shops or their branches. The Cabinet also approved another bill to form a unified apparatus for handling job applications for military and security bodies, specifically the ministries of defense and interior, the National Guard, and Kuwait Fire Force.
Additionally, on the occasion of the United Arab Emirates' 54th National Day, the Cabinet extended congratulations to UAE's President Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE's Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai's Ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Federal National Council's members, and the people of UAE. The ministers prayed for continued security and stability in the UAE and wished for its further progress and prosperity.
Concluding its presidency of the 45th session of the GCC Supreme Council and transferring the 46th session to Bahrain, which will host it on Wednesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, head of the 45th session, emphasized Kuwait's commitment to a firm constitutional policy focusing on consultation mechanisms, coordination, and accelerating the application of UN Supreme Council's resolutions. The Cabinet expressed appreciation to Al-Yahya, senior GCC officials, and others for their efforts in organizing these meetings.
Furthermore, the Cabinet reviewed the minutes of the ministerial committee on food, pharmaceutical, and water security, discussing strategies to enhance pharmaceutical security in Kuwait. It tasked the Ministry of Health with coordinating efforts to bolster this system.
