Kuwait City: Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah, has called upon the international community to recognize and support the vital role of women in conflict areas. She emphasized the need for global efforts to bolster women's resilience amidst ongoing conflicts. According to Kuwait News Agency, Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah delivered her remarks during the fourth high-level ministerial conference held at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The conference, titled "Enhancing Protection and Comprehensive Response to the Needs of Women in Conflict Areas: Women facing wars," comes at a crucial time as the Arab region faces continuous crises and conflicts. Sheikha Jawaher highlighted the urgent need for collective action to halt violence and urged the international community to fulfill its duty in safeguarding civilians. She called for ensuring the distribution of humanitarian aid to those in dire need. She also noted Kuwait's commitment to supporting Gazans, mentioning initiatives like the Arab Women's Peace and Security Conference, which was organized under the theme "Stop the War on Gaza Now, Not Tomorrow," in partnership with the Arab Women's Organization and with participation from various Arab countries. Moreover, Sheikha Jawaher underscored the significance of member states implementing Security Council Resolution 1325 and related UN resolutions. She stressed the importance of cooperation among all relevant parties to advance women's roles in international peace and security, particularly in the context of ongoing regional crises. Furthermore, she acknowledged the crucial contributions of Kuwaiti women in providing humanitarian and relief aid in disaster-affected areas.
