Beirut: Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs and Chairperson of the National Committee for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution (1325), Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah, met with the First Lady of Lebanon and President of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, Mrs. Nehmat Aoun. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in supporting and empowering women in peace and security issues.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting was held on the sidelines of Ambassador Al-Sabah's participation in the 12th session of the Women on the Front Lines conference, organized by the May Chidiac Foundation in Beirut. During the discussions, both parties reviewed national efforts to implement UN Security Council Resolution (1325), which emphasizes women's participation in prevention, protection, and decision-making processes related to peace and security.
Ambassador Al-Sabah reiterated Kuwait's commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation on matters concerning women, peace, and security. She acknowledged the efforts of Lebanon's National Commission for Lebanese Women in promoting national initiatives that encourage women's participation in public life and contribute to societal stability.
Mrs. Aoun highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Kuwait and Lebanon in supporting women's involvement in peacebuilding and developmental efforts. She stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and enhancing coordination between the two nations.
The meeting concluded with both sides affirming their commitment to continue joint efforts in developing initiatives that cater to the needs of women and girls in the region. They emphasized supporting their roles in building peace and security at national and regional levels, aligning with the United Nations' objectives in this field.
The meeting was also attended by the Charg© d'Affaires of the Embassy of Kuwait in Lebanon, Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Dalh, and the Diplomatic Attach© at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zainab Mansouri.
