Kuwait and India Hold Seventh Round of Political Consultations to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

New delhi: Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat, engaged in the seventh round of political consultations with senior Indian officials at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters. The discussions aimed to follow up on the outcomes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuwait last December, where he met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Hayat communicated via a phone call that he met with Vice Minister of External Affairs Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Assistant Minister for Gulf Affairs Ausaf Sayeed Mahajan, and other senior officials. The consultations addressed bilateral cooperation in areas such as politics, international forums, economic trade, investment, culture, higher education, scientific research, civil aviation, oil, renewable energy, industry, Artificial Intelligence, healthcare, and medical services.

Ambassador Hayat expressed that Prime Minister Modi's visit fortified the historic ties between Kuwait and India, with further high-level visits planned. A joint roadmap includes sectoral workshops throughout the year to enhance cooperation across these fields. He also highlighted that Kuwait and India share common views on many regional and international issues, particularly their support for peaceful solutions to global conflicts.

The role of the Indian community in Kuwait, which exceeds one million people, was also discussed. Ambassador Hayat noted the significant contributions of Indian workers in various sectors, particularly in construction and infrastructure projects involving Indian companies. He pointed out that the meetings were conducted in a positive atmosphere, with both sides largely aligned in their positions.

Present at the meeting were Kuwait's Ambassador to India Meshal Al-Shamali, India's Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Adarsh Swaika, Counselor Fawaz Al-Qahtani from Kuwait's Embassy in New Delhi, and diplomatic attaches Sharifa Bokhudour and Altaf Danboh. Ambassador Hayat arrived in New Delhi early Tuesday to lead Kuwait's delegation in these political consultations.
