Kuwait and Belgium Engage in Fifth Round of Political Talks in Brussels

Brussels: Kuwait and Belgium convened for the fifth round of political consultations in Brussels, with a focus on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for mutual cooperation.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti delegation was led by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs Ambassador Sadeq Marafi. The Belgian side was represented by Ambassador Director General for Bilateral Relations at the Belgian Foreign Ministry, Brigitte Stevens. Kuwait's Ambassador to Belgium and Head of its Missions to the EU and NATO, Nawaf Al-Enezi, was also in attendance.

The discussions centered around strengthening bilateral relations in various sectors, including political, economic, and investment domains. The talks explored investment opportunities for Belgian businesses in Kuwait and mechanisms to boost trade and economic cooperation. Both countries exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the significance of continued coordination in multilateral forums.

The consultations also reviewed ongoing cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union. Given Kuwait's current presidency of the GCC, there was a focus on bolstering strategic partnerships in areas such as regional security, energy, and sustainable development.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Enezi underscored that the fifth round of consultations is a testament to the strengthening Kuwait-Belgium relations, enhancing political and diplomatic dialogue. He also pointed out the increasing momentum in Kuwait-EU relations, fueled by Kuwait's commitment to fostering strategic partnerships based on mutual respect and shared interests.
