Kuwait Ambassador Reaffirms Support for Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh

Kuwait city: Kuwait Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ali Hamada, emphasized ongoing support for Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, located in the south of Bangladesh.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Hamada made this statement during a visit he conducted alongside a delegation from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) to the refugee shelters in Cox's Bazar. The purpose of the visit was to inspect and follow up on Kuwait-funded projects in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Bangladesh Red Crescent.

The delegation focused on inspecting projects related to shelter and water, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing living conditions to address fire and climate challenges. The visit was part of Kuwait's broader humanitarian efforts to assist those in need globally, aligning with the humanitarian vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Ambassador noted.

The tour highlighted Kuwait's solidarity and support for Bangladesh during this crisis, with the Ambassador acknowledging that Kuwait's continued support is greatly appreciated by Bangladesh. Since 2017, more than one million Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh have faced difficult humanitarian conditions after fleeing Myanmar's Rakhine province due to military operations.

Kuwait is among the countries actively involved in relief programs through regional and international partnerships to alleviate the suffering of refugees. The KRCS has contributed USD 1.3 million to the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Middle East and North Africa region in support of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. The KRCS delegation included Vice Chairman Nasser Al-Tannak and head of operations department Zainab Komber, among others who are dedicated to supporting these refugees.
