Addis ababa: Kuwaiti Ambassador to Ethiopia Nayef Al-Otaibi emphasized that food security is a central objective of Kuwait's development vision and a key component of its annual development plans. This statement was made at the Fourth UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) held in Addis Ababa.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the summit, which began on Monday and concluded on Tuesday, served as a platform for discussing global food security challenges. The Kuwaiti Embassy in Ethiopia reported that Ambassador Al-Otaibi reiterated Kuwait's commitment to funding projects related to food security, human health, and prosperity through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).
The ambassador also highlighted Kuwait's dedication to participating in these biannual gatherings to monitor progress and leverage expertise and initiatives for human resource development and technological advancement. He described the summit as a global platform for innovation and addressing food challenges, as well as an opportunity for countries and stakeholders to share insights and explore opportunities in vital food system sectors.
Addressing the situation in Palestine, Ambassador Al-Otaibi condemned the Israeli occupation for crimes leading to the starvation and suffering of Palestinian children and pregnant women. He referenced World Health Organization (WHO) reports highlighting malnutrition among Palestinians, which violates UN resolutions.
