Kuwait city: The 24th annual Kuwait International Camel Racing Championship commenced with significant participation from camel owners across Kuwait and other Arab nations. The event spans six days and is being held at the Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad track of the Kuwait Camel Racing Club.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Bashar Abdullah, the Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sports (PAS), inaugurated the championship. Abdullah expressed his pride in the event, highlighting the cultural heritage that camel racing represents. He extended his hopes for success to all participants, acknowledging the sport's importance from a local to an international level.
Kuwait Camel Racing Club President Hussein Al-Dawas noted that Kuwaiti camels performed well on the first day, which is a positive indication for the upcoming races. Al-Dawas thanked the state authorities for their support in organizing the championship.
On the first day, the championship featured 21 races out of the total 78 scheduled. These races were dedicated to young camels competing over a distance of four kilometers.
