Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have officially signed a USD 12 million joint cooperation agreement aimed at launching the second phase of a malaria control and prevention project in Yemen. The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and KSrelief Supervisor General, and Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, at the Fourth Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this agreement marks an extension of the project's first phase, with funding support from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for the new phase. The project is set to encompass a comprehensive range of preventive activities to combat malaria in Yemen.
This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader efforts through KSrelief to support international organizations in their fight against epidemic diseases globally. The collaboration between KSrelief and WHO is expected to significantly enhance the ongoing efforts to control and prevent malaria in the region.
