Kuwait city: Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Coast Guard discussed ways to strengthen cooperation by launching joint research projects serving national objectives in marine sciences and environmental protection.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this initiative was revealed in a KISR press statement following a visit by Coast Guard Director General Brig. Gen. Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah and his delegation to the institute's research vessel Al-Mustakshif. The delegation was welcomed by KISR's Director General Dr. Faisal Al-Humoudan, Acting Executive Director of the Environment and Life Sciences Research Center Dr. Abdullah Al-Enezi, and Coastal and Marine Resources Program Manager Dr. Turki Al-Saeed.
The statement highlighted that the delegation was briefed on the advanced capabilities and equipment of Al-Mustakshif, which is noted as one of the largest and most modern research vessels in the Arabian Gulf region. The KISR officials elaborated on the vessel's construction phases, technologies, and its role in conducting marine surveys and collecting samples across the Arabian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Arabian Sea.
The discussions also covered the vessel's technical support for conducting high-quality marine research, fisheries management, and joint efforts to protect the marine environment. Additionally, they touched upon studies related to climate change and the sustainability of marine resources.
