Kuwait city: The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sweden, represented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), to establish a framework for international cooperation between the two entities. The agreement aims to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, focusing on countries where both parties have ongoing projects and programs. According to Kuwait News Agency, the MoU seeks to facilitate cooperation in social, economic, and sustainable development, infrastructure projects, and the exchange of technical expertise. It emphasizes the importance of aligning with the policies and priorities of both parties involved. The collaboration will revolve around specific activities that align with the mandates and operational policies of KFAED and Sida, especially in regions where both have active programs. A significant aspect of the MoU is the early identification of projects that could receive support through fi nancing or technical assistance from both institutions, adhering to their respective policies and operational procedures. The agreement includes provisions for periodic consultations to coordinate operations and activities in shared partner countries, with a particular focus on Ukraine and Syria. Priority sectors outlined in the MoU include agriculture and food security, water supply and sanitation, education, and health. The agreement also stresses the importance of exchanging information and enhancing knowledge sharing to leverage the expertise, resources, and capacities of both KFAED and Sida. The MoU was signed by Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund Waleed Al-Bahar and Director General of Sida Dr. Jakob Granit.
