KEPS Launches Initiative to Promote Sustainable Environmental Practices

Kuwait City: The Kuwait Environment Protection Society (KEPS) announced the launch of a new initiative to commemorate "Earth Hour," a global movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that takes place on March 22. Yusuf Al-Ramzi, deputy head of the KEPS engineers' team, stated that the initiative aims to transform the symbolic act of "Earth Hour" into a sustainable environmental practice by encouraging a daily lifestyle and behavior among individuals, institutions, and companies.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the initiative is designed to promote daily habits that reduce water and electricity consumption. It includes awareness programs and student activities as part of the green schools programs affiliated with KEPS. Al-Ramzi highlighted a series of activities, challenges, and competitions that will be announced in conjunction with this initiative.

The "Earth Hour" initiative aims not only to encourage people to turn off non-essential lights but also to raise awareness about environmental conservation and climate change. It promotes varied activities and effective methods to utilize renewable energy in workplaces. Held annually, "Earth Hour" encourages individuals, communities, and businesses to switch off non-essential electricity for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., as a symbol of commitment to the planet.
