Amman: Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Al-Hassan called on Saturday for more substantial efforts at the Arab Summit to support the Palestinian people's resilience and address the humanitarian crisis. He highlighted the ongoing war in Gaza, which has lasted over a year and a half, resulting in tens of thousands of civilian casualties and widespread devastation. Al-Hassan urged an immediate ceasefire and greater humanitarian aid access, supporting the efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the U.S.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Hassan stressed that the security of the region depends on a reasonable solution for the Palestinian issue, including the establishment of an independent state alongside Israel, based on a two-state solution. He denounced ongoing violations in Jerusalem and the West Bank, emphasizing that they perpetuate conflict rather than bringing peace.
Al-Hassan reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to protecting holy sites in Jerusalem and supporting Syria's stability and reconstruction while advocating for the return of Syrian refugees. He also expressed solidarity with Lebanon in its quest to restore state sovereignty and the country's stability.
