Japanese Embassy Announces Government Scholarship Opportunity for Kuwaiti Teachers

Kuwait city: The Embassy of Japan in the State of Kuwait has announced a new scholarship initiative aimed at Kuwaiti teachers who wish to pursue research in school education at designated Japanese universities. This scholarship is part of a longstanding effort by the Government of Japan to promote international educational cooperation and intellectual exchange.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Japanese Government Scholarship, which was first established in 1954, is designed to foster mutual understanding between Japan and other nations. Kuwaiti nationals who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply. Eligible applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991, hold a degree from a university or teacher training institution, and possess at least five years of teaching experience in elementary, middle, or high schools, or teacher training schools in Kuwait by October 1, 2026.

The criteria exclude in-service faculty from higher education institutions, and applicants are expected to be physically fit, exhibit genuine interest in Japan, and have the capacity to conduct research and adapt to living there. Scholarship recipients are required to return to Kuwait after completing the scholarship period to continue their roles in their respective educational institutions.

Application forms and detailed information are accessible via the official Study in Japan website. Applications must be submitted in person at the Embassy of Japan after scheduling an appointment. The selection process includes document screening, written examinations in English and Japanese, and personal interviews to select the final scholarship awardee.

The embassy has set the application deadline for Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the cultural section of the embassy for further inquiries.
