Tokyo: Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty have committed to ongoing collaboration aimed at restoring calm, enhancing humanitarian conditions in Gaza, and achieving peace and stability in the region over the medium to long term, as announced by Japan's Foreign Ministry.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during a 35-minute telephone conversation, Abdelatty detailed Egypt's Gaza reconstruction plan. In response, Iwaya expressed his appreciation for the Arab countries' significant move to present a unified plan to the international community. Furthermore, Iwaya confirmed that Japan would further explore future cooperative efforts.
Iwaya also expressed regret over the resumption of Israeli military operations across Gaza, which have resulted in numerous casualties, including civilians. He emphasized Japan's strong encouragement for all parties to return to negotiations and work earnestly towards maintaining the ceasefire agreement. Iwaya also expressed gratitude for the ongoing diplomatic efforts by mediating countries, including Egypt, and pledged Japan's continued support for these initiatives.
