Israeli Forces Detain 40 Palestinians in West Bank Raids

Jerusalem: The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) reported that Israeli occupation forces have arrested at least 40 Palestinians across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, during a series of raids from last night through Monday. The operations included widespread field interrogations in various regions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the arrests included a child and former prisoners amid large-scale raids and reported mistreatment in Ramallah, Jericho, Salfit, Nablus, Hebron, and Bethlehem. Among those detained is former prisoner Jamal Al-Taweel, 62, from Al-Bireh. Al-Taweel has spent over 18 years in Israeli occupation prisons and has endured systematic torture and denial of medical care.

PPS detailed that during Al-Taweel's arrest, occupation forces assaulted and restrained two of his sons. Al-Taweel has faced repeated administrative detention since 1989, with his most recent imprisonment lasting 15 months before his release in January 2023 under a prisoner exchange. PPS added that his health remains poor following his last incarceration.
