Beirut: The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that one of its peacekeepers sustained a "light" injury after an Israeli occupation drone dropped a grenade near a UNIFIL post in Kafer Kela, located in southern Lebanon.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the incident occurred after peacekeepers observed two drones flying over the area before the grenade explosion. This marks the second attack this month where UN personnel have been targeted with explosives launched by Israeli forces.
The UNIFIL statement highlighted the incident as a significant violation of resolution 1701 and expressed concern over the disregard for the safety of peacekeepers executing their Security Council mandate. UNIFIL urged the Israeli occupation to halt all attacks on or near its personnel, who are essential in maintaining stability in the region.
The Israeli occupation reportedly continues to target Lebanese towns and border areas, notwithstanding the ceasefire agreement that was established last November.
