Kuwait city: Kuwaiti Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah on Saturday stated that the anniversary of the August 2, 1990, Iraqi invasion would remain a significant landmark in Kuwait's history. Marking its 35th anniversary, the minister emphasized the steadfastness and heroic sacrifices of the Kuwaiti people in resisting the aggression, which embodied a strong sense of national unity.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister paid tribute to the great sacrifices of Kuwaiti martyrs who honored the nation with their blood and offered prayers for their souls. He also commended the critical role played by the political leadership in liberating the country from occupation, highlighting the solidarity between the leadership and the people, the sacrifices of the martyrs, and the resilience of the citizens.
The minister further acknowledged the vital support from brotherly and friendly nations, which was instrumental in confronting the aggression and liberating Kuwait. He affirmed that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces would continue to be prepared and enhance their capabilities in line with their commitment to defending Kuwait and honoring the martyrs, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
