Iraq appreciates India’s positions in support of Iraq in the field of combating terrorism

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanji, received the Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Iraq, Prashant Besai, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, today, Thursday.

The Undersecretary stressed, according to a statement by the Ministry, the Ministry’s keenness on the importance of exchanging visits at several levels and in a manner that serves the interest of the two friendly countries. He also appreciated India’s supportive positions for Iraq in the field of combating terrorism and in its war against the criminal entity of ISIS, pointing to the importance of cooperation in the field of mutual support in nomination for positions in international organizations..

For his part, the Indian Ambassador affirmed that his country is keen to strengthen its relations with Iraq, which is a key partner in the field of energy, and there is a great desire to support cooperation in other fields, including relations in international organizations.

The two sides also discussed a number of important files, while stressing the importance of joint work to overcome the difficulties facing the two sides in all fields.
