Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2231 formally expires on Saturday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the UNSC President, Araghchi stated that with the expiration of this resolution, all previous UNSC restrictions on Iran will be lifted. He emphasized that no measures or arrangements could be revived or enforced after this date, asserting that any attempt to do so would be null and void.
The Iranian foreign minister also highlighted that Iran has adhered to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) even after the United States withdrew from the agreement. He criticized the US and the European Troika, which includes Germany, France, and Britain, for undermining the primary objective of the JCPOA through their insistence on maximum demands and continued sanctions.
