New delhi: India announced that its partnership with Japan is instrumental in enhancing strategic stability in the Indo-Pacific region while contributing to global economic stability.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the 8th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum organized by the Delhi Policy Group and the Japan Institute of International Affairs. He highlighted that the relationship between India and Japan has significantly deepened over the last few decades, enhancing strategic stability in the Indo-Pacific and contributing to economic stability on a global scale. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific, describing it as a complex yet crucial task. He noted that deeper cooperation across various domains between the two nations is a testament to their responsiveness to the evolving global scenario.
Jaishankar also mentioned several key initiatives, such as the joint vision for the next decade, which includes an investment target of 10 trillion yen over the next ten years and the Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation. These milestones underscore the growing strength of the India-Japan partnership.
He highlighted specific collaborations like the Next Generation Mobility Partnership, the Economic Security Initiative, the Joint Crediting Mechanism, and the Joint Declaration on Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia, along with an MoU in the field of Mineral Resources as examples of a dynamic and contemporary agenda. Jaishankar also stressed the broader responsibility of India and Japan as major democracies and maritime nations towards the Indo-Pacific region.
