India and Nepal Ink Environmental MoU to Boost Conservation Efforts

New delhi: India and Nepal signed an MoU to strengthen cooperation in forests, wildlife, environment, biodiversity conservation, and climate change. The agreement aims to enhance collaborative efforts in these areas, including restoring wildlife corridors and interlinking areas, as well as exchanging knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement from the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change announced that the agreement was signed with the Ministry of Forests and Environment of Nepal in New Delhi. The MoU highlights the shared commitment of both countries to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices.

The statement emphasized that India and Nepal are home to rich biodiversity and natural heritage, with extensive networks of Protected Areas. Both nations are also signatories to several multilateral environmental agreements and conventions. This collaboration seeks to formulate biodiversity conservation strategies at the landscape level, focusing on key species such as elephants, Gangetic dolphins, rhinoceroses, snow leopards, tigers, and vultures.
