New delhi: India and Malaysia on Wednesday emphasized the need for strengthening international cooperation to combat terrorism.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that during the 3rd meeting of the India-Malaysia Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism and Combating Transnational Crime held in New Delhi, both countries condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
They further stressed the importance of international collaboration to tackle terrorism comprehensively and in a sustained manner. Both nations renewed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, Financial Action Task Force, the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering, and the ASEAN Regional Forum.
The discussions also covered the challenges in combating terrorism, such as the use of new and emerging technologies by terrorists, terror financing, and the connections between transnational organized crime and terrorism. The two sides shared their views on the regional and global terrorism landscape and highlighted the significance of strengthening cooperation through timely information sharing, law enforcement training, and capacity building.
