IICO Launches 64 Sustainable Projects for Orphan Families in Yemen

Kuwait city: The International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) has successfully launched the fifth phase of its "Lawful Earning" (Kasb Tayeb) program, implementing 64 projects designed to benefit 384 orphans and their families across various Yemeni governorates. The initiative aims to enhance the living conditions of these families by promoting self-sufficiency and reducing their reliance on aid.

According to Kuwait News Agency, IICO Deputy Director General for Communication, Ibrahim Al-Bader, highlighted that the projects span a range of sectors. These include dairy cattle and sheep breeding, sewing and embroidery, perfume, bukhour, and sweets making, as well as operating food carts, watermelon cultivation, barbershops, and printing shops. Al-Bader emphasized that these ventures are crafted to provide families with a steady income following the end of orphan sponsorship.

He further explained that the selection of projects was tailored to meet the specific needs and capabilities of each family. Beyond financial support, IICO has also offered a comprehensive training program for the recipients and the mothers of orphans. This program covers essential skills such as project management, planning, competition analysis, financial management, and marketing, all aimed at ensuring the sustainability and success of the projects.

The "Lawful Earning" program is an exemplary model of sustainable community development. It was developed based on thorough field studies to determine the most suitable projects for each case and was executed in collaboration with local partners.
