Kuwait City: The President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Kate Forbes, confirmed on Tuesday, the Federation's readiness to cooperate with Egypt in implementing the reconstruction plan for Gaza Strip, given the Federation's experience in relief and humanitarian support around the world.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this announcement came during a meeting held by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly with Forbes, which focused on cooperation between the International Federation and Egypt in the next phase. The Egyptian Prime Minister's office released a statement indicating that Forbes informed Madbouly of the Federation's eagerness to collaborate with Egypt on the humanitarian aspect of the early recovery and reconstruction plan for Gaza.
The statement further highlighted that the IFRC chief is looking to increase cooperation with Egypt by expanding the Federation's activities regionally from Egypt. Forbes expressed her appreciation for the existing level of cooperation and acknowledged Egypt's prominent role in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Forbes also commended the humanitarian support offered by Cairo to the Sudanese people amidst the ongoing conflict there. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Madbouly welcomed the cooperation with the IFRC, particularly concerning the Gaza reconstruction plan, which was endorsed by the extraordinary Arab summit hosted by Egypt last Tuesday.
Madbouly emphasized that Egypt remains committed to providing essential aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, despite the obstacles posed by the Israeli occupation that restricts the entry of aid.
