IAEA Calls Emergency Meeting Following US Attacks on Iranian Nuclear Sites

Vienna: Chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, announced on Sunday an emergency meeting of the agency's board of governors scheduled for Monday, in response to the recent United States attack on three nuclear sites in Iran.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Grossi emphasized the urgency of the situation by convening the emergency meeting. This decision follows the US military operations targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, including the significant Fordow site. Grossi reassured that, at present, no increased radiation levels have been detected at the affected sites.

The IAEA's Board of Governors, consisting of 35 member states, acts as the second highest decision-making body within the agency, following the general conference. This meeting aims to address and discuss the implications of the attacks and assess potential risks and necessary actions moving forward.
