Kuwait city: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of the private universities' council, Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, has issued a decree approving new regulations for domestic scholarships at private universities. This initiative aims to align educational opportunities with the demands of development and the labor market.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the newly approved 17-item regulation will be implemented at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. The regulation seeks to establish clear mechanisms for internal scholarships, ensuring that concerned educational bodies adhere to these provisions. It requires applicants to be Kuwaiti nationals aged between 17-23, or up to 27 for those holding a technical certificate.
The new rules also permit students to transfer from government or overseas universities, provided they meet specific criteria, including maintaining a minimum score of three points for medical and engineering specialties. Furthermore, it stipulates that students, along with their guardians or guarantors, must repay any scholarship debt if they violate the terms set forth in the regulation.
