Gaza: The Palestinian Hamas Movement announced on Monday that it has released American-Israeli prisoner Edan Alexander, transferring him to Red Cross Society officials in Khan Yunis, located in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the release of Alexander is described by Hamas as a gesture of goodwill following communications with the U.S. Administration. This action is part of ongoing efforts by mediators to establish a ceasefire, reopen border crossings, and facilitate the entry of relief aid into the region.
Hamas has stated in a press release that their response to recent contacts has been positive and flexible, indicating a willingness to engage in dialogue. Alexander had been held captive by Hamas since October 7, 2023.
