Cairo: A Palestinian Hamas Movement delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening to assess the implementation of the recently concluded Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement. The arrival comes as Israeli forces have escalated attacks on the enclave.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the delegation is set to engage with mediators and other Palestinian groups to ensure compliance with the agreement’s provisions. These provisions include a ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
The Hamas delegation’s arrival in the Egyptian capital coincides with increased Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip. These actions have resulted in the deaths of 15 Palestinians, the suspension of humanitarian aid, and the closure of border crossings.
Israeli occupying forces’ recent activities mark the first violation of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement, which was signed by Hamas and Israel with mediation from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the U.S.
