Kuwait City: The Air Transport Committee of the GCC announced on Monday the nomination of Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the Director General of Air Transport at Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), as the chairman of the committee for a three-year term.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Rajhi expressed his gratitude to all GCC members for his nomination. He conveyed his hope to be worthy of the trust placed in him and to effectively represent Kuwait and the GCC states within the committee. He also aims to contribute to achieving the aspirations of the General Secretariat.
Al-Rajhi emphasized the importance of enhancing the committee's work, aligning with the visions of GCC leaders to progress the civil aviation sector and provide optimal services to travelers and airlines operating within GCC airports.
During the meeting, the committee discussed an approved agenda, which included the completion of a study on establishing a unified Gulf civil aviation authority. This study is to be submitted to the Executive Committee of the General Secretariat for further action. Al-Rajhi also noted the adoption of a new training mechanism for critical topics in the air transport field and highlighted discussions on the importance of international cooperation, which will be coordinated through the General Secretariat.
