Vienna: The IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi affirmed on Tuesday the agency's commitment to back Ukraine with respect to nuclear safety. A statement released by the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna indicated that Grossi, earlier today, held talks with Ukrainian officials in Ukraine regarding the sensitive status of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhya nuclear reactor.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Grossi during the talks in Ukraine called for strict safety regulations at the station. His talks there touched on plans for building a new nuclear station in Ukraine and repairs at the stricken Chornobyl reactor. The Chornobyl reactor had accidentally blown up in the past causing tremendous radioactive contamination in Ukraine and abroad.
Moreover, Grossi indicated that Kyiv's plan to launch more nuclear investment is sensible and strategic.
