Global Sumud Flotilla for Gaza Returns to Barcelona Due to Bad Weather

Barcelona: The Global Sumud Flotilla, comprising dozens of ships and boats carrying humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip, has returned to Barcelona's harbor due to adverse weather conditions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in a statement on X, the Flotilla announced that the decision to return was made to ensure the safety of participants and the success of the important humanitarian campaign. The flotilla, which includes 300 activists from 44 countries, initially departed Barcelona at 03:00 p.m. on Sunday, with plans to reach the Tunisian coast by Thursday.

A second group, consisting of 50 vessels, was scheduled to depart from Tunisia on Thursday towards Gaza. This effort is part of one of the largest marine initiatives aimed at breaking the Israeli occupation's blockade on the war-torn region. A third delegation was also set to leave the Italian coast, but the delay from the Barcelona team postponed its deployment.

The Global Sumud Flotilla was announced in July, consisting of four teams with the mission to break the blockade on the Gaza Strip and work towards ending the conflict. Previous attempts to deliver aid to Gaza have been thwarted by Israeli occupation marine forces.
