Riyadh: The meeting of political directors of the Global Coalition to Counter the so-called the Islamic State (ISIS) commenced on Monday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with participation from 90 countries. The gathering marks a significant step in the ongoing international efforts to address the challenges posed by ISIS.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting is chaired by Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Khereiji and attended by Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Asaad Al-Shaibani. The focus is on continuing efforts to combat ISIS in Syria and Iraq, as well as on reconstruction initiatives in areas affected by the terrorist group.
The United States is represented at the meeting by Tom Barrack, envoy of US President Donald Trump, and US Ambassador to Turkiye. This representation underscores the US commitment to the coalition's objectives and highlights the importance of international collaboration in addressing the terrorism threat.
