Washington: German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is set to travel to Washington for discussions with his American counterpart, Pete Hegseth, regarding military aid for Ukraine, as announced by the German Ministry of Defense.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the talks will focus on the potential provision of advanced air defense systems to Ukraine. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has expressed Berlin's willingness to purchase US Patriot systems for Ukraine. Additionally, Pistorius aims to address the ongoing presence of American forces in Germany, which currently numbers around 38,000 troops, following US President Donald Trump's affirmation to maintain this deployment.

The meeting will also cover Germany's procurement of 35 F-35 jet fighters in a deal valued at 10 billion euros (USD 11.6 billion). The German defense ministry has indicated that the air force is scheduled to start receiving these aircraft next year.
