Berlin: Germany's Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has urged the initiation of a process to achieve a two-state solution in the Middle East. Despite some European nations recently recognizing Palestine, Germany has not yet taken this step. Wadephul emphasized the importance of launching talks to address the longstanding conflict.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Wadephul expressed Germany's position before departing for the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York. He mentioned that Germany would consider recognizing Palestine following the conclusion of talks aimed at establishing a two-state solution, which would ideally lead to the creation of an official Palestinian state.
Wadephul is set to attend a French-Saudi conference in New York on Tuesday. The conference aims to strengthen the prospects for a two-state solution ahead of the discussions at the UN General Assembly. The conference represents an effort to galvanize international support for resolving the Middle East conflict through diplomatic means.
