Kuwait City: Kuwaiti schools revived the country's major traditional Ramadan custom, known as Gergean, on Thursday, with children putting on colorful and cheerful traditional costumes especially for this occasion.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Gergean is a joyful occasion that reflects popular, cultural, and social heritage, embodies the spirit of social solidarity, and brings happiness to children and families. The word "Gergean" in the Kuwaiti dialect comes out of the sound of drums used by children to mark this traditional occasion.
