Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi received Ambassador Keiichi Iwamoto, Assistant Minister and Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, in Riyadh. The meeting focused on enhancing Gulf-Japanese relations and reviewing progress on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two parties.
According to Saudi Press Agency, both officials emphasized the importance of the FTA in supporting the strategic partnership between the GCC and Japan, which aims at achieving the common interests of the peoples of both parties. The discussion also highlighted the mutual commitment to continue coordination and consultation, enhance communication channels, and expand Gulf-Japanese relations.
Albudaiwi acknowledged Japan's contributions to supporting relief and humanitarian efforts for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian territories. Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining ongoing dialogue to strengthen their bilateral relationship.
