GCC Commends Canada, Malta, and Portugal for Recognizing Palestinian State

Kuwait city: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi welcomed the announcement by Canada, Malta, and Portugal's premiers-Mark Carney, Robert Abela, and Luis Montenegro respectively-on recognizing a Palestinian state next September.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Budaiwi highlighted this development as a significant step, indicating growing international support for the legitimate rights of Palestinians. These rights encompass the establishment of an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in compliance with international law principles, international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Al-Budaiwi urged all countries worldwide to take similar actions to help end the prolonged suffering of Palestinians and to promote justice, peace, and stability in the region.
