GCC chief urges Morocco, Algeria to adopt dialogue to resolve disputes

RIYADH, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf expressed Friday regret for the recent turn in relations between Morocco and Algeria.

In a press statement, Al-Hajraf hoped ties between the two Arab North African nations would back to normal soon.

He called on both sides to heed dialogue and diplomacy to mend ties and iron out differences for the benefit of their nations, regional security and stability and joint Arab action.

On Tuesday, Algeria’s Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra said that his country has decided to sever diplomatic ties with Morocco due to what he described as historical and political disputes and Morocco’s interference in its internal affairs.
