Al-Fasher: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi vehemently condemned an attack on the Saudi Teaching Maternal Hospital in Al-Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur, which claimed multiple casualties.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Budaiwi stated that the attack marks a flagrant and serious breach of international laws and treaties as well as UN resolutions pertinent to the protection of civilians and civilian installations, including health facilities. The GCC chief emphasized the need for providing utter protection to medical teams and health facilities in Sudan to enable them to perform their humanitarian duties, especially given the challenging circumstances facing the Sudanese population.
Al-Budaiwi also highlighted the importance of respecting international and humanitarian laws and holding accountable those responsible for such violations that endanger innocent lives and hinder humanitarian efforts. Reports indicate that around 70 people were killed and dozens injured in the attack on the Saudi Teaching Maternal Hospital in Al-Fasher City on Saturday.
