GCC Chief Discusses Free Trade Deal Reference with Vietnamese Ambassador

Riyadh: The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, engaged in discussions with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Hung Huy, focusing on the latest developments concerning the terms of reference for a potential free trade agreement between the GCC and Vietnam.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the General Secretariat issued a statement on Thursday highlighting that the meeting also explored avenues to enhance Gulf-Vietnamese cooperation. This falls within the framework of the memorandum of understanding that was signed between the two parties in 2023. Additionally, they reviewed the progress on the proposed joint action plan set for 2024-2028.

The statement further noted that Al-Budaiwi expressed his eagerness to finalize the terms of reference, paving the way for the start of negotiations on the free trade agreement between the GCC and Vietnam.
