Kuwait City: GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi on Monday announced the activation of the GCC Emergency Management Center in response to the Israeli occupation aggression on Iran. The announcement was made during the 48th extraordinary GCC ministerial meeting, which was held virtually and chaired by Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Current GCC Ministerial Session Abdullah Al-Yahya. The meeting focused on the latest regional developments.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the decision to activate the emergency management center was made amid concerns over the delicate circumstances and potential serious technical and environmental impacts that could arise from any attack on nuclear facilities. The initiative aims to take all necessary preventive measures at both environmental and radiological levels, ensuring close monitoring of technical indicators in collaboration with the specialized agencies of Member States.
Despite the heightened alert, GCC chief Jassem Al-Budaiwi reassured participants that current technical indicators remain within safe limits, emphasizing that there is no immediate cause for concern. However, he urged that the current state of high alert should be maintained to ensure preparedness and safety across the region.
