French President Macron Recognizes Palestinian State at UN Summit in New York

New york: French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday evening formally recognized the state of Palestine at a UN summit in New York, co-hosted with Saudi Arabia. France joined the latest countries, including Portugal, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, in making similar recognitions. According to Kuwait News Agency, in a speech at the United Nations Conference on the Two-State Solution, President Macron stated, "It's time to free the 48 hostages held by Hamas and stop the bombing of Gaza, the massacres, and the displacement of people." He further emphasized the urgency for peace, noting, "It is time for peace because we are moments away from losing the ability to achieve peace, and that is why we're gathered here." Macron reiterated the desire for a two-state solution, saying, "we want the two-state solution, living side by side in peace and security, to become a reality." He also highlighted the humanitarian crisis, recalling that "hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, injured, starve d, and traumatized."
